The most crowded and chaotic hub of old Delhi ,
Chandni Chowk houses the
innumerable Kuchas and Katras that supply finished textiles to the entire
retail network in northern India.
Kucha Ghasi Ram
Shahjahan, had in his court some very talented scholars and astronomers,
who used to assist him in his various intellectual pursuits. One such
astrologer was Pundit Ghasi Ram. Delighted by his wit and intelligence,
the Emperor awarded him a piece of land in Chandni Chowk to build his
Haveli on. The Kucha exists even today and is known by his name only.
