There
are five historically important Gurdwaras in Delhi, associated with the
history of Punjab and Sikh religion. Delhi is a
renowned place of Sikh pilgrimage, being the sacred city, as the five
Gurus visited the capital and the various Gurdwaras have been constructed
to commemorate their visits. Gurdwara Sis Ganj was built in honour of the
beheaded Guru Tegh Bahadur. It has the most modern building made of white
marble and is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Gurdwara
Bangla Sahib is a magnificently built, spacious bungalow in Delhi and is
dedicated to the eighth Guru Harkrishen, who stayed here for a few months.
Other famous Gurdwaras worth a visit in the city include Gurdwara Rakab
Ganj, Gurdwara Majnu-Ka-Tila and Gurdwara Nanak Piao.
