As
the seat of empire for centuries and with royalty as patrons,
Delhi has an amazingly long tradition of arts and
crafts and cultural centre, attracting painters, craftsmen, musicians and
dancers from all over the world. October to March is the "cultural
season" of Delhi, during this time period a plethora of events take
place in the fields of visual and performing arts. The best places to
witness the enriching performing arts of India are
National School of Drama,
Lalit Kala Akademi, Sri Ram Centre
and FICCI Auditorium. Traditional crafts too, have long been practised in
Delhi. The city is particularly well-known for its silver and gold
enamelling and Zari or embroidery in gold thread. The wealth of Indian
